Kubjika's unique historical importance is mirrored in the extraordinary richness of the inner, spiritual dimensions of her cult. These are explored in detail in the introduction to the edition and translation of the text with extensive references from mostly unpublished Kubjika Tantras and those of related schools. The work took close to two decades to produce. In this time numerous working editions of unpublished Tantras and related texts were prepared by the author with the help of a team of five trained assistants.

Das Manthanabhairavatantra ist ein langes Tantra, das zum Pascimamnaya[1](westliche Tradition) gehört.

Manthanabkairavatantra

Das Manthanabkairavatantra nennt sich selbst ' caturvimsatisahasra ' oder 'Buch mit 24,000 Versen. Das älteste zurückverfolgbare Manuskript wurde während der Herrschaft von Somesvara kopiert und ist etwa 1180 n.Chr. entstanden. Die jüngste Version wurde während der Herrschaft von Vira Vikrama Saha kopiert und datiert auf 1841 n.Chr.. Ein Manuskript eines Teils dieses Tantra in bengalischer Schrift ist im Besitz der ' Asiatic Society of Bengal'. Es ist eine Kopie eines Manuskripts eines Mönchs in Bodhagaya mit Datum 1641 n.Chr..

Der Text des Tantra ist in vier Abschnitte aufgeteilt, von den drei als khanda bzeichnet werden. Unter Bezugnahme auf die Beschreibungen in den Katalogen sind es nicht drei sondern vier.

Diese sind unten aufgeführt mit ihren ungefähren Länge:

  1. Yogakhanda 4,500 Verse
  2. Kumarikakhanda 6,000 Verse

Im Paratantra wird die MBT als die "mahamanthana-satkaka" bezeichnet, die mit "Grosse Manthana (bhairavatantra) übersetzt werden kann, bestehend aus einer Gruppe von sechs [tausend Versen]" [2]
