Dharani

Eine Dharani (skt. Dhāraṇī) ist ein Text mit magischer Bedeutung, der in meist symbolischer Weise die Essenz eines Gebetes oder einer heiligen Lehre enthält.

Dharanis gibt es sowohl im Hinduismus als auch in den buddhistischen Schulen.

Buddhismus

Die fünf großen Dharanis (Wyl. gzungs chen sde lnga) sind hier :

1. gtsug tor rnam rgyal
2. tsug tor dri med
3. gsang ba ring bsrel
4. byang chub rgyan 'bum
5. Essence of Dependent Origination dharani (rten 'brel snying po) : "All phenomena arise from causes;

Those causes have been taught by the Tathagata, And their cessation too has been proclaimed by the Great Shramana."
