Das Caṇḍamahāroṣaṇa - Tantra (Skt. candamaharosana tantra, tib., dPal gtum po khro bo chen po'i rgyud kyi rgyal po dpa'bo gcig pa ; Tantra  des furchtbaren und großen Schrecklichen) wurde um 700 CE verfasst. Er ist einer einer Ausgabe mit 25 Kapiteln(patalas) erhalten und zählt zu den wichtigsten Texten des [[Vajrayana]]. Der Text  handelt zumindest äusserlich betrachtet über Sexualriten bzw. über die Verehrung der Frau als Yogini([[Vajrayogini]]).

Im tibetischen Buddhismus herrscht Buddha [[Akshobhya]]('der unbewegliche') über eine Gruppe von Gottheiten, zu der Ācala gehört.  Acala/Caṇḍaroṣaṇa wird auch als Emanation von Akshobhya angesehen.
