Das Caṇḍamahāroṣaṇa - Tantra (Skt. candamaharosana tantra, tib., dPal gtum po khro bo chen po'i rgyud kyi rgyal po dpa'bo gcig pa) wurde um 700 CE verfasst. Er zählt zu den wichtigsten Texten des [[Vajrayana]] und handelt zumindest äusserlich betrachtet über Sexualriten bzw. über die Verehrung der Frau als Yogini([[Vajrayogini]]).

Im tibetischen Buddhismus herrscht Buddha [[Akshobhya]]('der unbewegliche') über eine Gruppe von Gottheiten, zu der Ācala gehört.  Acala/Caṇḍaroṣaṇa wird auch als Emanation von Akshobhya angesehen.
