H. P. Blavatsky

Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (* 12. August 1831 in Dnepropetrovsk in der Ukraine geboren als Helena Petrovna von Hahn-Rottenstern, † 1891 in London) war die Tochter von Oberst Peter Alexejevich von Hahn und der Schriftstellerin Helena Andrejevna[1]. 1849 heiratete sie den viel älteren N. V. Blavatsky, den sie wieder verließ und dann nach Ägypten floh. 1851 will sie das erste Mal ihrem Meister Morya begegnet sein, den später auch Alice Bailey erwähnt.

Helena Blavatsky trat in Ägypten, Russland und in den USA als spiritistisches Medium auf und begründete 1875 mit Henry Steel Olcott die Theosophische Gesellschaft. Ihre schriftstellerische Tätigkeit und Reisetätigkeit führte sie bis nach Tashilunpo and Shigatse in Tibet[2].

Ihre Bücher Isis Unveiled (1877, deutsch: Isis entschleiert), The Secret Doctrine (1888, deutsch: Die Geheimlehre), der Der Schlüssel zur Theosophie und Die Stimme der Stille prägten die Theosophische Gesellschaft und wurden zu Standardwerken für Hermetiker.
